Yet Another Innovative Way to Lose Money You Don’t Have

In todays ramblings, I explain how I managed to complicate the recording process even further once the session musicians were finally sorted.

With the guitars recorded, I decided they should be re-amped — largely because the internet told me to. At the same time, it became clear that proper guitar tabs would be useful. My first instinct was to do them myself, which lasted about twenty minutes before I accepted that tabbing is an absolute nightmare.

I then tried every AI tool claiming it could transcribe music automatically. None of them worked. Some of them produced riffs that were actually better than mine, which was tempting, but ultimately not helpful. Guitar Pro wanted money, so that idea was quickly abandoned.

Naturally, I turned to Fiverr. One person offered transcription for nine pounds a track, which explained exactly why the tabs he sent back were completely unusable.

While complaining about all this to my friend Adrien — a genuinely gifted guitarist who actually understands music — he offered to play on the album himself.

Problem solved.

Lesson learned, once again: you still get what you pay for.

Spending £210 to Fix a Problem Nobody Would’ve Noticed

In today’s Corpse Diary entry, I explain how I managed to spend a lot of time and a lot of money fixing flaws in a logo that, realistically, nobody else would’ve ever spotted. After my last experience working with an unfamiliar artist, I decided to go back to someone I’d worked with plenty of times before. He was reliable, easy to communicate with, and—crucially—not a thief. This time, I didn’t send a reference logo at all. I couldn’t be bothered going through that again and risking another copy job. A few days later, he sent over a sketch, and I genuinely liked it. It was simpler, more legible, and felt right.
