This time, I went looking on Facebook and focused on Indonesian-style death metal artists, whose work I’ve always admired. I eventually found a designer whose logos were incredibly detailed, widely shared, and backed up by a large following. He seemed legitimate, experienced, and a safe bet. After a few messages, we agreed on a price of $150, which felt fair given the quality of his work. Trying to cut corners where I could, I sent the payment via PayPal friends and family. Immediately after that — nothing. Total radio silence. Weeks later, after chasing multiple accounts, I finally received an apologetic message promising the logo plus extras I never asked for.
